General
I'm a new XE for GBW.
How do I pick up assignments?
WebSelect is GBW's online assignment selection
system. You can use WebSelect to search for assignments
in your local area, at your own convenience. If
you're not yet confident navigating through the
system, you may download a user guide from the
WebSelect notice board.
When do I report my Results?
Results should be reported through WebExpress
no longer than 8 hours after completing an assignment.
Failure to report results within this time frame
may lead to the assignment being reallocated to
another XE. If this occurs, we can not pay you
for your results. We don't want this to happen,
and nor do you. So please ensure that all results
are reported in a timely manner.
Can I change the date of the assignment?
You may change the date of your assignment by
using the Assignment Reschedule feature
on the main menu of XEC. However, please note
this is only possible if your preferred date matches
assignment requirements. For example, you cannot
reschedule a weekday assignment to a weekend.
How many evaluations can I complete each
month?
New XEs are able to complete a maximum of five
assignments in their first month with GBW.
Existing XEs complete more than five assignments
per month provided they are able to fulfil all
obligations. An experienced XE can conduct up
to 20+ evaluations per month.
How can I contact GBW?
If you need to contact GBW please log in
to XEC. Once you have logged in select XE Enquiry
from the main menu. This facility has been built
especially to deal with your enquiries/issues.
Simply follow the prompts to send us a message
and we will get back to you as soon as possible.
Why do I have to collect a receipt for
some assignments?
In order to maintain our high standard of reporting,
many assignments require you to obtain a receipt.
To ensure the validity of data to our clients
we request that you collect receipts for a number
of different clients. Please obtain a receipt
for each assignment where you are required to
make a purchase.
If you fail to collect a receipt where directly
specified to, the assignment may be deemed invalid,
and you will not be paid. GBW conducts regular
receipt audits and from 2004 will audit each XE
on the database at least once a year. If an XE
is unable to adequately fulfil the requirements
of the audit they will be deleted from our database.

Online
Services
I can't access your web site. Is there a reason
for this?
XEC is not compatible with versions of Internet
Explorer 4 or earlier. You must be using Internet
Explorer 5 (or more recent versions) to be able
to access XEC.
Please also ensure that your security settings
are on low. To do so follow these instructions:
- Open Internet Explorer
- Choose Tools on the menu bar
- Select Internet Options
- Choose the Privacy tag and make sure
that the setting is on Accept all cookies
Why aren't there any assignments on WebSelect?
Assignments are not available on WebSelect on
a continuous basis. Generally GBW releases
assignments to WebSelect around the 10-15th of
month prior to shopping. For example, we will
most likely release February assignments from
the 10-15th of January.
Assignments will remain on WebSelect for about
2-3 weeks.
I can't select McDonald's assignments.
Why is this?
Before you can complete an assignment
for a specific client, you must pass a set of
screening questions. Your answers to these questions
determine whether you are eligible to complete
the assignment. If you do not pass the screening
questions, a block is automatically placed against
you for that client.
How will I know if my request for an assignment
has been approved?
Please visit your Assignment History (located
in the top left hand corner of most WebSelect
screens). Within this screen you will be able
to view the status of each assignment you have
applied for, including whether it was approved
or rejected. Please note, only assignments accepted
through WebSelect appear in your Assignment
History.
Additionally, you will receive a confirmation
email if your application is successful. Please
only complete and assignment if you receive this
confirmation email.
Why was my application for an assignment rejected?
GBW has established business rules set
up with each of its clients. If your application
to complete an assignment is rejected, it is due
to the fact that one of these business rules has
been violated.
Eg. You visited the store last month,
and therefore are not permitted to return for
another two months.
If you have any further
questions relating to the use of WebSelect please
view the User Guide available on the WebSelect
Shopper Noticeboard.
How do I access my paperwork once I have
accepted an assignment?
Your paperwork can be downloaded from XEC. To
access your forms, select WebExpress from the
main menu. Once inside WebExpress, simply enter
your assignment number. To download your paperwork,
click on the Show Assignment Papers button.
My paperwork is not printing off correctly.
Why is this?
Your printer setting may not be compatible with
our website. Please open up Internet Explorer
and follow these instructions:
- From the menu select File and then
Page Setup.
- Ensure that Paper Size is set to A4,
Orientation is set to portrait, and all
Margins are set to 0.
What is WebTender?
WebTender is an online facility that allows XEs
to place 'bids' for additional payment on an assignment.
GBW conducts around 30,000 evaluations per
month and, not surprisingly, there are some locations
where XE resources are limited. In some instances,
we require XEs to travel considerable distances
to complete an assignment.
WebTender allows you to 'bid' for additional travel
expenses to complete an assignment. GBW
will accept the lowest bid that it receives from
an XE. Please note that you are not able to make
bids on every assignment. The WebTender button
only appears next to preselected assignments.
For full instructions on how to use WebTender,
click on the link below.

How many times can I reschedule an assignment
online?
Each assignment can be rescheduled a maximum
of three times.
I am trying to reschedule an assignment,
but there are no dates appearing in the Proposed
Shop Date field. Why is this?
If there are no eligible shop dates left within
the designated date range, the Proposed Shop Date
field will appear empty. In this event, please
call our contact centre to organise a different
date.
How will I know if my request to change
the date has been successful?
A Reschedule History tab appears in the
top left corner of all screens within WebSelect
(next to Assignment History). Click on
this screen at any time to check whether your
request to change the date has been approved.

Payment
When do I get paid for my evaluations?
You will be paid for your work through a direct fund transfer into your bank account. You can provide your bank account details to GBW through a secure page in the My Profile section of the shopper web site.
We process our shopper payments fortnightly - on the 15th and 30th of each month. Here's an example of how our payment works:
- If you shop between the 1st-14th of a given month your payment will be processed by the 30th of that month.
- If you shop between the 15th-31st of a given month your payment will be processed by the 15th of the following month.
Do I receive a payslip?
As a GBW sub-contractor, you are
not provided with a pay slip. Payment for each
assignment is transferred electronically to your
bank account in the month following successful
completion of your assignment/s.
Does GBW take tax out of my payment?
No. Please be aware that each XE is responsible
for paying their own tax. Tax is not deducted
from your payments. Please refer to tax policy
in your country to determine how much tax you
should be paying.
